Al Capone
Unlike the other people on this website, this man was more infamous than famous. Al Capone was born on January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York. Unlike other gangsters on the time period, Capone actually came from a respectful Italian family. In 1919 he moved to Chicago and was soon causing trouble. His first big crime was attacking government buildings in Cicero. He ended up sharing positions of power with his brothers and he started up a racket of gambling clubs and racetracks. Capone soon owned Cicero and a friend and mentor of Capone's, Johnny Torrio left his whole legacy of nightclubs, speakeasies, and breweries to Al. Al Capone is also thought to be responsible for the St. Valentine's Day Massacre but Capone took that secret to his grave. Capone died on January 25, 1974 at the age of 48.
